Listening to: Live telecast of AFL in the background (Geelong v Bulldogs)
You either die a hero,
or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
It was good.
It was f-ing good.
This man stole the show.
Unfortunately he’s now dead. A posthumous Oscar, perhaps?
*****
Although Heath Ledger literally stole the limelight (aside from Aaron Eckhart and the superb make up as Two Face), it was Christian Bale whom I could relate to most.
Not his alter ego, Batman but as Bruce Wayne, he was constantly conflicted and in turmoil between doing the right thing and what he wants to do.
Not a conventional comic book action hero adaptation, this film is but a dark and psychological thriller. At times, the sequences and camera work reminded me of watching NYPD Blue.
I can foresee what’s on people’s minds – they either like it or they don’t.
I do.

So I did almost everything I set out to do.
All except the long distance road trip.
There’s still time tomorrow. I hope.
