Listening to: Love Song by Sarah Bareilles

I’ve been going to Fitness First at Carindale instead of Springwood the last couple of weeks because there’s a swimming pool at the former, not the latter.

Swimming has always been my first love, as physical activities go. Running is second. Household chores like ironing and doing the dishes rank last.

It’s funny, considering that I’m more injury prone standing on my feet and ironing my shirts compared to going to the gym. Maybe it’s mental…

Recently, I’ve discovered a new activity – aqua aerobics.

As long as the pool is heated, no incriminating underwater cameras are present and everyone else is a stranger, I’m happy to gyrate to the music in my speedos ala synchronised swimming style.

Without the incessant smile, hair gel and nose clip, of course…

This spring season presents a whole new listing of exciting programmes to look forward to on tv.

The 8th season of Dancing with the Stars, 4th cycle of 90210 and 1st cycle of Make Me A Supermodel.

So many new shows on prime time, these are exciting times.

Listening to: Take Me On The Floor by The Veronicas (Theme for Australia’s Dancing With The Stars)

Just came back from an evening excursion to Southbank.

The annual Brisbane River Festival kicked off today with the QBE River Fire which was held there.

It featured an extensive choreographed pyrotechnics display over the Brissie River, culminating in a spectacular finale on the Story Bridge. And the whole fireworks was timed to perfection to a symphony of pop and classical music…

Brisbanites sure know how to usher in spring with a bang.

There’s nothing like sipping a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with friends by an iconic river, overlooking the greatest display of fireworks (well, a close second to Beijing) of the year.

The only thing missing was having a special someone standing beside me, holding my hand in witnessing the wonderful spectacle… *sigh*

(note: pictures taken with my friends’ Nikon Digital SLR D200 Rangefinder and Olympus SP-565 Ultra Zoom cameras)

Listening to: Australian Idol on Channel Ten HD

I overdosed on chocolates today.

Haven’t had chocolates for months because I try to eat healthy, keyword being TRY…

But I suddenly had cravings for it after seeing eiling’s beautiful chocolates. I had turned into the dark side, quite literally…

I heart dark chocolates. There’s something mysterious about its taste compared to regular and white chocolates.

Savouring such heavenly delight by slowly melting it into rich and thick nectar in my mouth brings pure joy and ecstasy.

It’s true what they say – chocolate does make one happy.

And maybe a little sexy too…

Listening to: The Ghost Whisperer on Channel 7

Just came back from an evening out at town.

Went to the Valley (Fortitude Valley), an entertainment district of Brissie and the heart of Chinatown.

Not that Thursday night was happening, but it’s always nice to grab a cold one after a long day at work.

And today has been a long day…

My boss has put me in charge of organising morning tea for tomorrow.

It’s for my department, and we usually take turns every month to do it between the 4 departments within my section.

Crap. I’m not good at this sort of thing.

Baking pastries or cute cookies are ladies’ forte. I only know how to eat them.

I think I’ll just buy chips and fries. Maybe get some of those frozen sausage/pie thingies.

This added burden is giving me a headache.

Listening to: A Moment Like This by Leona Lewis (British X-Factor winning song)

2 days ago as I spent lunch break at Westfield Garden City, I did some book browsing at Borders.

Was about to head over to the coffee counter to order my usual latte at Gloria Jeans when I chanced upon this little book called Unpolished Gem.

I was both intrigued by the cover and the title of the book.

Gave it a browse and was immediately enthralled, so I decided to buy it there and then.

It’s a memoir written by Alice Pung, an Australian-Cambodian, who writes her experiences as a migrant living in Melbourne.

Although I’m still in the midst of Robert Ludlum’s Sigma Protocol, I just couldn’t keep Unpolished Gem down.

Finished reading it in a space of 2 days (or rather 2 nights) because it really is that good.

I don’t normally read non-fiction but this one is a must-read.

Full review of the book is posted at Laksa Diaries.

Something happened today.

Something not particularly pleasant.

How do you feel when someone close who is privy to your innermost thoughts and insecurities betrays your trust?

It hurts. It truly does.

I used to wonder how some people go through life without the strength of conviction to uphold principles and values.

I now realise, it’s not a matter of conviction.

These people simply have no principles…
