Listening to: Right As Rain by Adele

Splitter, splatter.

Rain won’t cease.

Everything gets wet.

~

Splitter, splatter.

Raindrops fall heavily.

Puddles forming everywhere.

~

Splitter, splatter.

Rushing for the brollies.

Lest your hair gets wet.

~

Splitter, splatter.

The tapping on my windowsill.

A soothing lullaby as I drift to sleep…

*****

Admiration from a distance.

A simple fascination, yet complex in nature and inexplicably illogical.

An occurrence that may never have an outcome.

Or perhaps…

Such is life in all its grandeur and perversity.

*****

Adele, an English-Welsh singer has released the album, 19 containing music that showcases her self-titled genre, Heartbroken Soul.

Very soulful and jazzy, Adele’s voice is reminiscent of Duffy. Could it be that Welsh singers have this innate ability to tranfuse all emotions into contemporary soul..?

Listening to: U Want Me 2 by Sarah McLachlan

You walk on by
Clueless and so high
Following your aimless
Path away from us
You’re so far away
And what can I say
Cause I can’t be the one
You wanted me to be

So tell me
How do you feel
It’s so confusing
If you let it all go
It’ll fall apart
Do you want me to stay
And say I still want you
U want me 2, don’t you?

So what are we saying
Our eden’s a failure
A made-up story to fit
The picture-perfect world
The one with I do
And I love you
And we are made
For each other
Is forever over now?

And tell me
How do you feel
It’s so confusing
If you let it all go
It’ll fall apart
Do you want me to stay
And say I still want you
U want me 2, don’t you?

I hope there’s forgiveness
In the distance between us
Can we make what lies
Ahead of us
A better place to be?

So tell me
How do you feel
It’s so confusing
If you let it all go
It’ll fall
Do you want me to stay
And say
I still want you
You want me too
Don’t you?.

U Want Me 2, Sarah McLachlan

My forearm has almost fully recovered.

It feels about 80% now, and there is no discomfort moving it, as long as I don’t stretch it too much.

Finally went to the gym today after a weeklong absence.

The cute RPM trainer was wondering what happened to me as I rarely miss sessions for so long.

It’s good to know that there are people who miss my presence, even if I’m not a celebrity.

Showing concern means people care, and it’s a nice feeling to be on the receiving end of such warm affections…

*****

A warm and fuzzy feeling,

Such joyful delight,

I cannot contain my smile.

~

A sweet and innocent secret,

Such joyful delight,

I cannot stop blushing.

~

A moment of pure ecstasy,

Such joyful delight,

I keep wanting more….

I’ve been waiting 2 years for her next album.

It’s been worth the wait.

Released 2 days ago, Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan is a compilation of the greatest hits and a composition of new ballads.

The most notable new song which is getting a lot of coverage on the air waves at the moment is U Want Me 2.

Hypnotic, poignant, tragic, hopeful… it ranks up there with Duffy’s Distant Dreamer and Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black.

Nothing makes me feel more alive than listening to great music…

Listening to: Hands Free (If You Hold My Hand) by Sonny J

When I was back in Malaysia, I’ve never been interested in plants or flowers.

But since I came over to Brissie, I’ve discovered a fondness for gardening.

I’m constantly surrounded by nature.

There’s a huge park filled with gum trees and possums behind my unit. At night, these wily creatures roam free and produce rather freakish sounds…

I’ve planted some aloe vera plants in my back yard. Easy to maintain and a good source of medicinal properties…

A legacy of the previous tenant, I now look after these patches of plants and flowers…

It’s true what they say – gardening helps instill patience and is a good way to meditate.

And it helps get me outdoors on a regular basis, to breathe the fresh air and get some tan.

I’m hooked on the video, Hands Free (If You Hold My Hand) by Sonny J.

They keep playing it at Fitness First, and to be honest it’s one of the most interesting music videos I’ve seen in a while.

It’s motivating to listen to especially in Body Combat classes.

Synchronised dancing – or in this case, boxing – at its best…

Listening to: 離開以後 (After Leaving) by 張學友 (Jackie Cheung)

Desolation.

A feeling of emptiness.

A void within the heart.

A sense of anguish.

A state of solitude.

~

Fear.

A moment of anxiety.

A notion of apprehension.

A loss of rationale.

A journey into the unknown.

~

Love.

A long lost feeling.

A distant, fading memory.

A longing for something.

A sickness afflicting the soul.

~

Remorse.

A regret deep down inside.

A recurring reminiscence.

A fallacy of judgment.

A time to repent.

Today is one of those days when I feel melancholic.

It comes and goes like asthma, there’s no cure for it.

Sadness and depression set in.

I need to do some soul searching.

How does one cure an illness for which there is no apparent prognosis?

Especially if the illness afflicts the heart and mind.

My only outlet is this blog, pouring my discontent into words and prose.

Maybe someone may understand my pain, maybe not.

But at least I’m letting it out of my system.

*****

Every time I’m feeling like this, I listen to Jackie Cheung.

It’s like a small dose of painkiller that briefly halts this sense of duress.

It works as well as a glass of scotch and a cigarette.

Dear diary, signing off until I recover from this ailment…

Listening to: 月 亮 代 表 我 的 心 (Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin) by Teresa Teng

Mid Autumn Festival.

Also known as Moon Cake Festival.

One of my favourite events of the year in the Chinese calendar, it’s a time to enjoy delicious moon cakes and light up lanterns.

Contrary to many people’s perception that moon cakes are too sweet, unhealthy and the like, I’m not bothered at all. If you exercise hard enough, you shouldn’t have to worry about calories.

I love moon cakes.

*****

I bought a box of moon cakes from Sunnybank today.

There are so many brands on display, ranging from the expensive to the more affordable.

The famous Wing Wah brand was a tad pricey so I bought the mid-range ones…

Sipping tea and savouring moon cakes while watching the TVB drama, Moonlight Resonance.

Asian style cuppa, just the way I like it.

The Australian Weather Bureau is forecasting fine weather tonight.

I think I might just pull out a deck chair, hang out at my back yard and gaze at the moon.

The perfect complement would be to play the soothing tunes of 战 台 风 on the (Gu Zheng) while hoping that a beautiful maiden would suddenly fly down into my arms, just like in the wuxia films.

Unfortunately, I’m not in one and I can’t play it either. Even if I tried, I’d only attract wild possums from the trees.

Definitely need some professional lessons from eiling.

*****

Starlight, star bright.

Complementing the moonlight.

Resonating through the night.

Such joy to behold a wondrous sight.

我 就 是 喜 欢 看 月 亮 …

Note: Coming from an English background, learning writing and reading chinese characters by myself and without the help of a tutor is really challenging. Speaking Mandarin and Cantonese is at least easier, thanks to Hong Kong’s TVB and Taiwan’s TTV.
