Alert Wallaby, Tweed Heads NSW

Alert Wallaby, Tweed Heads NSW

The untamed soul.

Frantically searching.

For what, only he knows.

~

The wild desire.

Passion fueled by inspiration.

His will inexorable.

~

The incessant longing.

Hunger from deprivation.

His resolve all the more hardened.

~

The restless spirit.

All senses awakened.

Nothing escapes his keen sight.

Enchanting Garden, Redcliffe

Enchanting Garden, Redcliffe

A journey through a long and winding path.

No one knows how far it goes.

Or if it will ever end.

~

Like a fairytale or in dreams.

The surrounding seems surreal.

Pieces in motion, so lifelike yet unreal.

~

The urge to carry on is great.

For there is nothing left behind.

Curiosity overcomes ambivalence.

~

At last, a glimmer of something.

So near yet so far.

A destination for the weary.

~

What it is, no one knows.

Only time will tell.

For the journey is the destination.

Listening to: Labels or Love by Fergie OST Sex & The City

It’s been a busy last couple of weeks.

Been going on a whirlwind tour around Queensland with me mum and dad, clocking hundreds of k’s on me car, taking shit loads of pictures and basically planning where to go next after the end of a trip.

At the end of all this, it was time to say au revoir as I finally sent my parents off last Sunday.

I never did relish saying goodbyes and farewells, but years of experience has hardened my resolve, somewhat…

Now that I’m home alone again, I thought things would be back to normal.

Things like doing my own cooking, hitting the gym again after a month of home cooked delicacies, blogging…yes, blogging, how I’ve missed updating my blogs…

But instead, I find myself with several projects to follow up on, namely:

1. Backing up my data – With all the info that’s stored on my lap top with the shit loads of picture files, downloaded porn movie and music files, etc etc, I decided to back up all my info lest anything untoward was to occur ie lap top theft, crash etc.

So, I bought myself a handy and cute little Western Digital Passport external drive. Cute, innit? Took me the whole bloody evening to do this last night.

2. Movie project – I’m compiling all my snapshots and making a DVD movie out of it. Initially I downloaded MS Movie Maker v2.1 to do this but the damn thing keeps hanging on me. Now I’m using both Cyberlink’s Media Magic and Picasso. This project will likely take a couple of days, if not weeks, to produce.

3. Bought a new Bluetooth hands-free kit after I gave my old one to me mum. I’m so used to talking on it instead of my mobile I think I’d die without it. Yeah, hands-free, the way of the future.

After the initial euphoria of purchasing Brisingr, the excitement has finally died down, having finished reading it last night.

I always hate this feeling of depression and gloom that sets in at the conclusion of any exciting venture. It’s like the end of a hawt and raunchy ‘sexy time’ session, and you’re all coiled up afterwards, wishing for more…

Thankfully, I’ve embarked on a new reading adventure, this time attempting to complete the whole collection of Anne McCaffrey’s Chronicles of Pern series.

Yes, I’m ashamed to admit that I have yet to read any of her books, being a fantasy fan myself. But I shall hope to remedy that situation, won’t I?

So many schemes to look forward to, these are fun times…

Listening to: Beautiful Girls by INXS

In reply to CC’s query, I’ve decided to post a whole response rather than putting up a brief reply in the comments section, which wouldn’t do justice to the subject matter.

So, what to do when you’re in Gold Coast (including the surrounding areas within a radius of, say 30 kms)…

Bikinis, Sun and Sand

Surfers' Paradise

Surfers' Paradise

99.9% of Aussies from all around the country do this when they visit GC. What better way to escape the harsh cold winter in the south ie Vic, NSW, Tassie than to fly/drive up to Queensland, the sunshine state.

Gorgeous girls in bikinis galore, hunky surfer dudes, beautiful stretch of sandy white beaches for miles – from Surfer’s Paradise to Mermaid Beach, we call it ‘The Strip’ here – and enough sun to tan an albino for up to a year, at the very least.

Theme Parks

Movie World

Movie World

99.9% of overseas visitors tend to end up at one or more of the theme parks.

There are 5 to choose from, namely Dreamworld (if you’re into elevated rides), Whitewater World (if you’re into rides on water), Movieworld (if you’re into movies), Sea World (if you’re into animals) and Wet’N’Wild (if you’re into getting, errr, wet and wild).

Deal or No Deal

Conrad Jupiter

Conrad Jupiter

What better way to unwind in the evening than to gamble the night away at Conrad Jupiter, the local casino.

From high stakes black jack or baccarat to minimum bets of 1 cents at the pokies machine, there’s everything for high rollers or small time punters.

Nature and Outdoors

Friendly dolphin

There are whale-watching tours/cruises that depart Surfers’ Paradise daily.

For those into parks and trees, there’s Tropical Fruit World at the Qld/NSW border, approximately 10km off Coolangatta airport. The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is not too far off either if you want to take pictures with kangaroos and koalas.

Shopping

Pacific Fair

Pacific Fair

For those who’ve been to Singapore, Hong Kong and KL, shopping at Gold Coast pales in comparison. However, if you need to have a look see and maybe purchase a couple of items, you could try Cavill Plaza Square and Pacific Fair shopping mall at the city centre it self or drive about 10km to Harbourtown, which is a rather large shopping “village”.

I hope my posting has been helpful, CC. Drop me an email if you need more information.

Listening to: Hakuna Matata by Baha Men OST Lion King

Just came back from Australia Zoo, home of the late Steve Irwin.

I can’t recall the last time I ever stepped foot in a zoo.

I think it was probably many, many moons ago at Singapore Zoo.

Or was it Zoo Negara? Gaps are appearing in my memory.

Anyway, as I’m eligible for 50% off ticket prices to theme parks and attractions around Australia by virtue of my employment, I thought it was high time to see endangered animals before they – or myself – become extinct.

Besides, I’m nearly running out of places to bring my mum and dad to. Last time they came, I took them to Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Movie World, Sea World, White Water World, Dream World, Hinterlands, Bribie Island, Whitsundays and all the other mountains/hills/creeks/valleys I could think of.

If and when they come over again in the future, I think I’ll have to take them to New South Wales or Tasmania. Perhaps even across the Tasman Sea to visit New Zealand.

I could even sub-contract CC to be my tour guide, if she’s game for it, of course.

*****

Australia Zoo is fun.

Although driving there is a bit of a hassle (about 100kms from my house) but it was worth it.

I’ve nearly forgotten how different animals look in real life compared to watching the National Geographic Channel
